Recently got a job in electrical? Here is what to expect on your first day with Prime Electrical!
If you are looking for a job in electrical or have recently been added to the Prime team, you may be wondering what the onboarding process looks like. In this article, we will discuss how to be prepared for your first day and how to get the most out of the onboarding process!
A Brief Look at the Application Process
First things first, you will be required to complete one of Prime Electrical's applications and perhaps submit a resume. This way we can see your work experience and determine if you are a fit for the position that you chose to apply for. You can find our application at the bottom of our Join Our Team page here. If you are qualified for the position and we still have an opening, a member of our hiring team will reach out to you over the phone or via email. This way we can talk to you and see if you would be a good fit for the Prime Team! Depending on the position, your contact with the hiring team will schedule an in-person interview or hand your application process off to our amazing HR Administrator, Alexis. Alexis will work with you to schedule everything that you need to be prepared to start work.
Before your First Day
There are still some things that we need to complete prior to your first day. Prime Electrical Services always puts the safety of our team first! In order to keep you, the rest of the team, and everyone else on the job site safe we are a drug-free workplace. This means that you will have to pass a drug test before starting work. Don't worry - we cover the cost of the drug test. Once you have passed that, we will invite you down to our main office in San Marcos, CA to continue your onboarding process.
Required Trainings
We also require employees to complete certain trainings - such as sexual harassment prevention. If you are starting as a foreman or supervisor, you will have additional management trainings as well. These can be done online either at home with provided access before your first day or in the office on a workstation there on your first day. We cover the costs of the trainings and will pay you for the time that it takes to complete them so be sure to mark it on your time card! Alexis will help you schedule the trainings either before you come into the office or will assist you in setting them on when you arrive.

Your first day will include meeting our office staff. We especially want you to meet Alexis, our HR Administrator and head of our Field Assistance Program, and Beth, our Payroll Coordinator. If you need any support in the field, she is likely the one to get it done for you! You can read more about the program on the Field Assistance sheet that you will be given with your paperwork.
